접속사 

1. 그시간동안에,. 아니면 동시간대에(during)

while은 상대적으로 긴 시간을 의미하며 동시에 발생되는 두가지 상황, 행동을 표현할때
사용합니다. 그래서 일반적으로는 while을 사용할때 while 절에는 진행형이 들어가는 경향이 있습니다.
그렇다고 일반형이 안되는것은 아닙니다.

예문

I read while you were drying your hair.
머리 말리는 동안 나는 책읽었어. 

I'd take advantage of the sports facilities while I'm here.
여기있는동안 이용해야겠다.

I found these things while I was cleaning out my cupboards.
치우는 중에 이것들 발견했어.

I didn't drink at all while I was in hospital.
입원한 동안에난 술입에도 안댔어.

I lost a lot of weight while I was on holiday.
휴일동안에 나 살많이빠졌어.

※ while 절에서 주절과 같은 주어를 사용할경우

   be동사와 while을 함께 생략이 가능합니다.

 

When (you are) crossing the road, be careful to look right, left and right again.
They came across human remains while (they were) excavating this place.

 

2. 반면에(although)

= 어떤 사실에도 불과하고.
while은 시간에 따른 접속사일뿐만아니라
formal 한 사용에서는 대조되는 문장을 쓸때 사용 하기도 합니다.
이 형식에서는 while 절이 보통 앞문장에 온다는걸 기억하세요.

 

예문

While Hin’s very good at science, his brother is absolutely hopeless
 HIn은 과학을 정말잘하는데 걔 형은 희망이없어.

While your work has improved greatly, there are still some areas that concern me.
네 작품 정말 좋아졌는데 아직 걱정되는 부분이있어.

While I'd like to accept your offer, I'm unable to at the present time.
네 제안은 정말 좋지만, 동시에 받을수가없어

While I'm reluctant to make a fuss, I feel I really must complain.
소란 피우는건 별로 좋아하지않지만, 진짜 따져야 될거같아.

명사 (a while)

while이 명사로 쓰일때는 반드시 부정관사가 앞에 존재합니다.
while 자체의 뜻은 a length of time 즉 정해지지 않은 시간을 말합니다.

예문

She was there quite a while (= a long time).
그녀는 당분간 거기 있을거야

"When did this happen?" "Oh, that was a while ago (= a long time ago).
"언제 발생했는데?" "좀 됐어."

They haven't seen her for a while (= for a long time).
걔를 못본지 꽤 됬어.

She'll be fine in a while (= soon).
걔는 곧 괜찮아 질거야.

There I was thinking you were hard at work but you were upstairs in bed all the while! (= for all of a period of time)
너 열심히 일하는 줄 알았는데 계속 침대에 있었어!

제가 동영상으로 while을 원어민이 어떤식으로 쓰는가를 봤는데

몇백개를 넘기면서 한번을 못봤습니다. 참고만 하시면 될거같습니다.

시간을 빈둥빈둥 보내다( 할게없기때문에)

while during for 차이점 정리

그렇게 어렵지는 않습니다.
이것들이 같이 비교될때는 시간의 흐름에 관한 뜻을 가질때 입니다.

일반적으로 
while은 접속사로서 주어, 동사인 절과 접속되어서 절을 가지게됩니다.
during은 전치사로, 보통 시간을 나타내는 명사와 같이 특정 시간 표현이 사용됩니다.
for은 숫자와 함께 쓰여 정확한 시간의 흐름을 나타낼수있습니다.
